Cool sample from LifeChurch.tv

Check this out! This is something LifeChurch did for Christmas this past year. Very cool and outside the box (no pun intended!). I think we’ve all done these tunes, but the production is pretty amazing! The video description says…

“…What could happen when you combine electric guitars, great vocalist, maybe a few trash cans somewhere in the middle, Pro Tools, LED video walls, moving light fixtures, and a team of musicians and tech crew who love to worship God. Um… Well… THIS!!

This full set was shot only using one camera and mixed for house only. The mix was then edited for tape, and the 6 sets worth of video were synced up. Finally the audio and video were synced. Special thanks to Kitt Bender for remixing the audio. Steve Nance and his crew over at Integrity Lighting, and all the volunteers at LifeChurch.tv Tulsa for all you do to make this stuff happen.”

Video Blog test

Here we go. Let’s see if this works. If so, the video blog test is complete and I can start doing some tutorials on various topics that will be MUCH faster to shoot then they would be to type. I’m pretty pumped about this!  The chain is a Flip Video camera, copy the file to the MacbookPro, run it through a quicktime conversion and a flash video conversion, then throw it up on the site.  The entire processing time is less than 5 minutes.  Awesome!

I had no idea when I started this blog that it would still be around over 2 years to see post #100.  To date, I’ve had over 20,000 hits since I started this blog in 2007, which is pretty amazing.  Thank you to everyone who I know reads and comments and the many more I’ve never met.

I’ve got lots more content in the queue so we’ll see where this goes over the next few months.  I’ve really enjoyed getting back into writing regularly!

Ode to Twitter

I have a hard time posting here.  If you’ve been following me for a while, you already know that.  I have a tendency to need to wait for big epic topics before I’ll take the time to post here and I’m going to try to do better at that.  But who knows if I will be successful?  I’ve been saying I want to be better at it for a while now.  I do have a bunch of posts scheduled in the queue now to go up over the next days.

In the meantime, I love Twitter and am much better at posting there.  Check it out if you haven’t already.

I’ve also redesigned and simplified the personal website a bit over the past few days.  Check it out as well.

Willow

Had a great time at the Arts Conference this year. The main sessions were great but the best experience for me was time with mentors soaking up every bit of knowledge and experience I could. I’ve got lots of insights to post over the next week or two. Big thanks to Scott and Nathan for all of the hang time, Dave Skaff for a great lunch and even more fun later that night, and all of the Willow crew for one of the best productions I’ve ever experienced in that room.

Twitter

You’ve probably noticed the infrequency of blog posts of late. My life has been way too busy the past few months and I’m working to establish margin for more free time, reflection, and relaxation. This blog falls into that margin category.

In the meantime, I must admit my latest addiction for fast updates: Twitter. If you haven’t tried it, you really should. From the homepage: “Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co-workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?” Facebook has its place to reconnect with lost friends and classmates, but Twitter is for everyday use. It’s addictive.
